This is the most dangerous thing about NAB - you will go broke via camera envy. :)

I talked to Canon rep for a long time, a real knowledgeable guy. Problem with a replacement for XH-A1 on a sensor is the auto follow focus. Currently the cameras use a prism during the auto focus. he was careful on not giving too much other than they know they need to figure out how to do a full auto follow focus with a sensor like 5D MKII. They also know they don't want to destroy their "video" camera line at the same time. Did ya'll know that the movie Hurt Locker was filmed (more than 75% of it) with 5D MKII camera? The lenses were very expensive of $100,000 and up but the body was the canon. Great time at NAB this year.

Tom, Dana and P5 Team. Well done. I again was super impressed at your get-up-and-go at both booths. Hardly a person walked by without you talking and showing them P5. The other place "Sx" was too busy texting and eating to even care when I walked by them.
Pond% is the king and soon to be ruler of the stock world .... well done.

Really? I read on another forum that the "hurt locker" was filmed with Arri 16mm film cameras. Come to think of it though the other forum probably wasnt a good source of information.

Well I dunno, one of the director was speaking at the Adobe booth and said that the plan was film but the final cut was 75% MKII with very expensive glass. He show a photo of two 5D MKII's with expensive glass, he said that the glass in the photo was worth about $500,000 and the camera bodies were worth $5,000. He said a lot of work was done in water so they didn't worry about dropping a "cheap" 5D MKII into the water. They were impressed with the 5D MKII so much that they had 12 of them at different angles throughout the shoot

The Images that they were displaying from the 300 and 305 were stunning! The 300 will be my next camera. A huge advancement over the XHA1..True HD, with minimal artifacts and no jaggies. I believe that $6000+ tag, will even out for me. With the XHA1's I was going through them at the rate of 1 a year, primarily due to the tape heads giving me problems. As this is tapeless, it should last me at least a couple of years. It is going to take me a while to adjust to the tapeless workflow, and figure out a good backup and archive solution, but the gain in quality will be more then worth the growing pains!
