I got the kessler too and I really like it. Was thinking about getting the motor, just saving up my dollars.

These shots rendered with SmoothCam in FCP.

I purchased a cheap slider, the friction based rail, from http://www.indisystem.com/products/indiSLIDERmini-Deluxe.html for these shots. It was around 130 dollars. After a few shoots, the friction rail was shot. Cannot recommend friction sliders of any kind. This despite greasing it. The ball bearing sliders are definitely the way to go. Portability is an issue for me as sheer mass seems to be a virtue using sliders and the tripods they are perched on. Very impressed by the http://www.kesslercrane.com/bloom-pocket-dolly-s/96.htm version. But they are always hard to get and on a limited run. The price is also 1100 dollars - although a motor can be added later.

I have the Kessler Pocket dolly, non Philip Bloom version. I love it!!! I also purchased the motor with it. It was a little more expensive but I cannot believe the results. Even with a macro lens it is smooth!

Same as Scott. I have the Kessler Pocket dolly with the basic controller and motor.
It's about $1000 or so for the entire kit but very much worth it.

I wouldn't buy the Philip bloom version, just paying for his name when the regular pocket dolly is the same.

The Bloom Dolly does have some features not available on the lower priced versions . The chief attraction for me is it's travel slze at only 24 inches - fits on the airplane. It can be motorized with the standard kit. It is also lighter at six pounds. I am often on a motorcycle in some strange place with a tripod and slider strapped to the side with bungie cords. Makes a big difference to me and probably worth the extra $.

Same as mine for half the price. Blooms is actually 29.5 inches. Mine is 26.5 inches

I have this motor and controler:
http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/100194.htm

I packed it in my luggage to Las Vegas during NAB. Shot video using it at the Grand Canyon.
The reason I bought it was the small size that would fit in the trunk of my car or airplane.

Here Bloom describes it: "a pocket Cineslider™, with the same movement and design features like drag control, integrated crank and different speed ratio all in one beautifully designed package. It comes complete with outrigger feet, flat head tripod adaptor and nifty case."

So it is different because it has drag control, the crank allows different speed ratios. You get the case, the flat head adaptor and the little feet. The price difference is aprox $450 contrasted to http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/100162.htm Thanks for helping me evaluate these models.
