My old password had more than 8 characters.
Can you give any clear information if passwords were stolen or if P5 was hacked?
If not i will use my old password again.

Hi Beckhusen
There were no passwords stolen from Pond5. However, there have been several reports of leaked information from many other sites over the last several weeks.
We recommend never using the same password twice, and especially never to use the same password on several sites. It is highly recommended that each password be unique and to change them often.

I have so many sites which require that you log in that I have five sheets fo passwords Some of these sites require not only 8 charters or more but upper and lower case letters plus symbols. Try to remember all of those. Then chicken little has a panic attack and you can no longer use that password like we've had to do here the past few days. Now I have to update my password sheet for the second time this month just because of some other agencies are have problems.

Absolute bs to change my good unique password at P5 only because any "other" sites had leaked information and somebody here makes senseless panic. Cannot change again and again my passwords at around 50 sites.
So long there's no concrete hack reported here it's only wasting time !

Pond5 is right. Running a business implies taking all the necessary measures for safety and security for all the people involved in that business.
Instead of risking a stolen account one better change a password. It takes less than five minutes to be on the safe side of the fence. Good move Pond5!

Less than 5 minutes? More than 24 hours when they can't care that mails arrive!
And where is the risk when you have a unique password?

@Beckhusen: In the world of the hackers, there is no such thing as a unique password, imagine the outcry and the finger pointing towards Pond5 if we would have been hacked? After the warning mail and the security check that it was for real, - not a Phishing mail - I was up and running within 5 minutes, new password and done!

So you think after changing your password you have more security although the old one was not hacked? LOL
I work with Internet since 30 years, so long since it is public. I have around or up to 50 accounts which require a password, beginning from banking, art and photo communitys, several business accounts, webspace ++++. Some of those i use only once within 3 months or longer.
Will see how lucky you shout when every account kicks you out suddenly, only by panic and because any other site (not your accounts) has leaked informations, and more about this they need more than 24 hours to serve you with a reset mail, only after you contacted them 2 times. 5x50 are 250. Have fun ;)
Of course i know that some people use the same password for different accounts, but that's their own responsibility and not the responsibility, nore the problem for P5. Happens often enough that any sites become hacked (Adobe, Flickr, ....), but kicking out all users although "no passwords were stolen" , that's really No.1 in my internet history experience :)
Last not least, think twice. So long P5 is not hacked it makes absolute no sense for you to change your password, because they can become hacked tomorrow. Changing passwords makes only sense when you have a weak password, use it a several sites, or when the site became hacked. That's all, and intelligent people should know this ;)

@Beckhusen Passwords leaks are discovered month after it happen when it's publish on the darkweb. It's means that some hackers have your password BEFORE the website warn you. That's why changing password can be usefull. As I said previously it's easy to do with a password manager
