4K Chat

Not sure, from what I see there really is no alternative for many months at least. The idea of using 4 separate sd cards to record 4K just does excite me and the unknown BMC unproven quality or delivery date just does not get me excited. I was waiting for the BMC but after using the menu system and poor daylight screen I've changed my mind on it. The BMC pocket indeed has a great sharp capture but for a grab and shoot camera it doesn't meet my needs. On BMC Pocket it is real noisey when indoors at ISO 800 and above. Neat Image is the only thing that saves most footage. I also get a lot of moire from it on patterns. Without going to $10K or more the options are limited and I think this is the best time to get in. Waiting for NAB and seeing what they might have and then waiting for delivery just isn't worth the wait.

Have you looked at the footage from Z-100 on Sony site? Of course just like GoPro they select the best for marketing. I'm willing to take a chance.

No, sent it back and got a refund.

Personally, I am comfortable waiting. Whereas I am eager to shoot in 4k, it is still early in the market. I would rather wait just a little longer for a $4 - 6k range camera that shoots with reliable quality.

that z100 is sold out again at bhphoto... seems like a hot item :-)

Here at P5 is the only place I can find problems with it. Everywhere else and all other reviews I can find are very positive. Yup B&H had them for one day. Mine in route, due on 24th Dec. My wife really dislike how I buy my own Christmas presents ;). I try to tell her I can't make December go away or control Sonys shipping schedule. Oh well, I got her a new laptop ....

My replacement gets here tomorrow morning (camera, not human). I'll let you know the final outcome. I suspect it'll be something like: I have issues with this camera and I'll probably never love it like the EX1 but it's the only option available to me right now so I'm just gonna have to make it work. You get the drift.

Here are some frame grabs to see sensor noise all the image in 4K. Noise is not obvious if you downsize to HD.

If you all not consider "sensor noise" an issue you can buy it.
