Camera dilemma again

Mizamook 18 Aug 2014 19:30
I'm kinda in the same boat. I love my RX100m2 for pocket cam - gets shots when there is no time or room for other cams, but now the RX100m3 is out, and has better lens, better codec (XAVC-S for 60P HD!), and I'm wondering whether to spring for that or is the possible RX100m4K right around the corner??? Being that I'm going to fly my RX100m2 on my UAV, maybe I should wait for more confidence in not doing crashing into trees face-first action..

There's no end to it. Get something and get to work. If you work enough, the camera pays for itself before the next one comes out.

The way things are going at the moment with photo sales on here , SS and IS the cost of a decent camera will not me made back with sales for a long long time. SS has just flatlined which is a first for me. My one sale so far ever for footage here at P5 gives me a thin ray of hope though.

So much crying for help, ... that's not the style of any successful business man! ;)
Do i understand right? You have no camera, no equipment, no video-editor, and except the camera you try to get all for free?
And you will make money with footage? It's a fake, or?
I'm sure nearly no one here started to produce stock footage without spend a whole time before making video only as hobby for his pleasure. There is no way else than to make your own experience and to grow in this. And don't think with best equipment you'll get best success. It's a learning curve we all have to follow ... and also failures must be done. All what i read in your several posts, i don't believe that you're in any way possible to act self-employed and freelance. Be true to yourself and don't fall in love with an idea which isn't really yours! ;)

Marbury,

You don't belongs to Freelance at all. Go and find a job. Selling Ice-Cream, for example..

I must say patuwe i sometimes find your comments a bit strange and a tad insulting. Please don't answer if you can't say anything helpful.

I have had a Nikon D200 for a few years which has earned it's keep as it still takes fantastic images. Now it has died ( google dead battery syndrome) and i needed a replacement that can do video. I purchased the sony rx10 but that turned out a duff model. So at the moment i am without a working camera. I make music and sfx which also earns me an income. My point is that income this year is shrinking and it is hard to see what is causing it hence this post. Ok, i do not freelance as such as I don't advertise for work. I am self employed and pay my taxes based on my earnings from multiple incomes in stock.

Marbury,

This is a professional Forum, for those need helps and get helps, give opinions and get opinions.
Most of the time I found your post are childish and counterproductive for all of us, so don't post anything which don't help yourself and others.
The best way to improve yourself is "shut up and shoot". You are simply lost all your passion of photography. You are dreaming of "Money" from your little footage collection!
You can't be a very successful professional photographer before and now. Equipment is not a big obstacle for creating great photo and video, rather your willingness to pursue it.

What is wrong by selling Ice-cream? It can be also creative ?

++ More

The point is, soft advices from so many forum friends here can't help you stand up, instead you keep on posting negative post (You are thinking of lower your price and your recent post is: Is Microstock dying! ) in the forum. It hurt all of us. And how low can you go ?
Go and find a professional helper.
