So I should export as 30fps hahahaha. There is no difference :-P. I am going to keep my workflow consistent. Haven't decided 30fps or 29.97 fps....

So the in-camera processing converts the 30p to 29.97 to display on a tv?

Let add a little more confusion to this subject. Interlace requires two vertical fields 29.97 x 2 = 59.94 or 60i. The standard recommended a frame rate of 30 frames (images) per second, consisting of two interlaced fields per frame at 262.5 lines per field and 60 fields per second. Now on a standard 4:3 TV the first field starts in the upper left-hand corner of the set while the second field starts in the top center of the srceen and both continue down the screen for 525 lines.
30p, or 30-frame progressive, is a noninterlaced format and produces video at 30 frames per second. Progressive (noninterlaced) scanning mimics a film camera's frame-by-frame image capture and gives clarity for high speed subjects and a cinematic-like appearance. Shooting in 30p mode offers video with no interlace artifacts.
For an engineering student I hope he isn't planning a career in television. I spent 20 years repairing and modifying mistakes made by television engineers before they could come up with a fix.

Hey guys, the orginal question was about Scott having ghosting problems which he solved by exporting what the camera shoots which is 30fps, not 29.97
Scotts other question was does it really matter 30 or 29.97, do buyers really care?
Don't know where the rest of the discussion came in about interlaced or progressive or the rest.

I just wanted to make sure people who used the Mark II were aware that if you edit in premiere to TURN OFF frame blending, or you might run into a whole lot of issues, as I did.
And yea, the question Jake re asked :30 or 29.97, do buyers really care?

Thanks Scott, maybe that is why a few of my faster motion footage didn't go well with some. Jake is right this had nothing to do with interlaced, it was always progressive processing with the 5D MKII

30fps should be fine
used to make Some CG in 29.97 progressive.
I mean if I wanted to I could make my 5d footage or CG 28fps, 36fps or 12fps
However when the camera is at a fixed frame rate such modifications will change how the "speed" or at least how the speed looks to us. Its like the movie Back to the future, you have to think 4th dimensionally. :)
Of course there are techniques to time remap.
I think a lot of indie people want 24p because they think it looks better. I think the 24p thing is BS, it doesn't look any better than 23 or 28 or any other weird frame rate.

From now on I am doing mark II footage as 30p. this will ensure that I don't get any frame blending if I forget to uncheck the box (which you cannot set as OFF for default, dumb adobe)

LOL Scott then don't use Neo Scene cause it will convert it to 29.97 LOL
