I will wait for the Panasonic GH-4k. Hopefully it will NOT stay as a rumor at http://www.43rumors.com/hot-first-picture-of-the-panasonic-gh-4k-camera/.
Panasonic claims that it has "the lowest noise sensor on the market!"

After my slog through the dripping woods with my heavy FS700 and rig, etc (to get no shots today) and looking at the GH4K it's pretty exciting.
Seeing an otherwise very cool shot rippling with terrible CA sell means either no-one cares about distracting flaws or the hype is selling. Hell, if you want giant purple lines on your video I'll quadruple the size of my RX100 video and there you go.
That little Sony looks pretty darn good too.
The bigger Sonys with the G lens might have the great form factor, but that lens has limitations visible in HD. Why use the same limited lens for 4K? Flaws will be more apparent. Also - there is something else at work regarding the CA - with the Z5 I shot lots of bright sparkling waves and high contrast and had very very little ever CA. Now the V1 that's a different lens/sensor too, but that one was really bad.
I'm gonna wait until I can get a solid SMALL unit that does a lot of great things.
That said, I wonder how the Touit 12mm Zeiss lens I ordered for the FS700 would look in 4k. I already know the kit lens won't hold up. So I MIGHT keep the FS700 if I make some money ever after this tax crap goes down, and look into the Gh4 or whatever small Sony comes out for a portable and QUICK 4K solution.
Thanks for this thread. And to you Guinea pigs - thanks for relaying your findings.
Anyone know what that term "Full scan" means with regard to the GH4K sensor? Is the high frame rate shooting for real? But not in 4K?

For run & gun video the 20x zoom lens is perfect. I'm still not fully sold on 4K through a dslr type camera. NAB in April will be interesting this year to see whats out and planned.

I'll totally agree with you on that. The 20x zoom lens was really hard for me to stop using. Wish they had something like that to stick on a DSLR or FS700. That wouldn't break the bank. For what it does it's amazing. The tradeoffs of course, are when the going gets rough and the light gets crappy. That's where it's worth the time to change a wide Zeiss for a tele L. ... of course in that time taken the whatever-it-is has walked, driven, flown, or opened a trans-dimensional portal out of the scene! So quibbling about the quality vs. whether the shot exists at all is an irony not lost on me.
I'm VERY curious and interested about all this, but I have kinda learned my lesson about getting too excited about stuff before its time. By that I mean before someone else has done the painful work of finding out where the holes are before I walk down the path in the dark.
