Why are people selling photos and Videos for free

Hi all,
I see a lot of people giving away their best photos, videos and audios for free. Why would someone do that? When people have to pay for what they buy and use.
It has been a significant problem in destroying the market for themselves and others. If we don't see the value in our work how would we expect others to do so?
I would like to hear from others as well.
