Why No Aggregate/Combine Files Function?

I was just wondering, why is there no user controlled combine multiple formats of the same clips function? It would be handy to have it there on the back end....

We haven't found a way to do that while ensuring that the files that are getting associated are actually different formats of the same clip, we're still experimenting with options though, and may implement that in the future.

Why not let the user combine the files and then they go back to the cue for inspection to assure they are all the correct formats?
