New front page

The front page is really getting old and stale. Time for a eye catching front page with emphasis on the BUYERS and not seller. Most or a big part of the current page is directed towards the seller now. Can't make many sales or money like that.

1. Remove the "Hot footage and Hot Audio tags" from buyers front page. Is this directed more to sellers than buyers? If it is mainly for sellers it sure takes up a lot of valuable space. Does it help buyers so much that about 20% of the page should be dedicated to it? Put it somewhere else.

2. Remove the "sell your stock footage ...." box. Again, buying should be seen as number one priority. P5 seems to not have a problem finding new sellers.

3. Make a second sign-in page that is more directed to sellers. Something like our competitor SS. Once signed in, allow sellers to bounce between buyers and sellers pages.

4. Is the "Pond5 now offers Photos and illustrations" new news? It kinda highlights two products that have been available here for a long time. Old news. Emphasize every product with a bang.

Number one and only focus on www.pond5.com main page should be to catch the eye of buyers ... no other focus other than to sell sell sell to buyers. The front page should be directed to buyers showing what is available and maybe how to use the resources of P5.

Time for a eye popping front page revision. I know a new version of P5 is in the works. Let's not let our competitors lead the way an longer with front page explosions and eye catching selling emphasis.

All good suggestions but whatever happened to the release of the new Pond5 website?

What ever happened to allowing us to contribute stills?

What ever happened to 3D products?

What ever happened to allowing buyers to re-encode and resize purchased items?

What ever happened to letting us create coupons/discounts?

What ever happened to "we're gonna be more active in the forums"?

What ever happened to Pond5?

any day now since last April NAB ...

Almost every other agency has updated their site numerous times to give it a new fresh appeal. It really is in need of an upgrade a year ago. SS has done it and 300% increase in sales. P5 old and stale and no upgrade and more than 30% drop. We understand things take time and knee jerk actions like the algorithm changes were bad for many of the active forum artists and continues to hurt. Time to get back into the race please. P5 was never meant to be second place after so many years of great success.

They left the race? Just because your sales are hurting or mine doesn't mean they left the race, or are hurting overall. You can't just assume that they left the race because they have not updated there front page yet. I mean you can, I guess, but I don't really think that's an assumption based on much more then your own personal performance increase or decrease and that's some what irrelevant since it's not a site made up of you and a few other people. There are tons of contributors.. Agreed the algorithm didn't help me out, things seemed to change for the worse. Overall P5 performance compared to other companies can't be determined though with limited factors, unfortunately it's not really determinable with what we have.

This isn't an attack so don't try to spin it that way, it's merely me saying they have been a great performer for a long time, it behooves them to stay a great performer because our bottom line is there bottom line, we share each others success, and I wouldn't worry yet. Summer is slow, it's always been slow, they have been allot more secretive then they used to be, big things could be in the works.

I have a plan.

I don't take it as an attack. I'm sure P5 is still happy with system wide sales, it's just a lot of vocal artists and a lot of long term artists that have never added to the forum who are now speaking up regarding measurable negative individual sales. The one thing I do not agree with is "summer is slow". That has not been the case for me in the last five years and record sales at other agencies with continued growth all summer. Historically summer has always been very good for me. We have all heard the winter slump, the first of year slump, summer slump. I just have not seen any slumps that are long term or measurable here in the last many years. Consistent 20-30 % sales slumps to an individual is very measurable and should cause eye brows to raise.

I'm definitely not attacking P5 either. Many others have stated in the last couple years that promised upgrades to help P5 and our personal business in this open market place has just not happened. P5 has been a great performer for a lot of artists, and continues to be. I have heard from many long term artists that P5 sales are no longer the top after all these years. Things do change and I do hope that the upcoming improvements and marketing will again knock number two back to number two.

Yes the flow of information has really changed over the last couple years, more secretive like you stated. We have been told of big things in the works and we are all still waiting to get excited. I haven't made sales drops comments based on just mine but numerous others and a lot of other artists that have e-mailed be privately. Those who were regularly selling a dozen or more each week have been hit pretty hard. I'm sure some are holding steady and that is great. I know you just started in the footage video side not too far back and have a lot of great CG work and you say you were hurt on sales changes this last year. It's real and I hope for a big announcement ... better yet great upgrades soon ... they have not left the race but have let the other agency take a big chunk or at least threaten to take the lead.

If summer isn't slow for you, or slower for you then other times of the year then consider yourself very lucky, I have been in this business 10 years and it's always been how it is for me and companies that I have worked in or for. So maybe it could be more a graphics is slow and footage holds strong all year. I mean I did just sell a ridiculous clip of a toad blinking a couple days ago..

I'm not saying your attacking P5, I'm just saying statistically speaking we the vocal are in the minority, and I wouldn't look to the first cause of a decrease being Pond5's updating of the front page. Things like that might help, I'm not saying your suggestions are bad, I just think there is allot more too it.

I also think that with the flow of information being different and sharing in each others success being a key factor that Pond5 will be doing all they can as usual to stay at the top of there game. Big things could be in the works and we wouldn't know. I don't think they would willingly lose ground sales wise and think nothing of it. I really trust that they will continues to do great things.
