In which format do you upload your clips?
What experiences do you have?
Here is a conversation between me and a curator:
Hello Klaus,
What camera did you shot these clips with? We don't accept clips with the mp4 codec unless it's the native container. Please resubmit these using the camera's native codec, like H264.
Thanks!

Hello Curator,
My Camera is a Canon XA-10. The technical details says: AVCHD / MPEG-4/H.264, 50i, My Cutting Programm is Magix Video deluxe MX. Last year when i begun with pond5, i exported the Videos in .MPEG4 with h264 codec. But when i had it uploaded to pond5, i can't see the Video only with my PC but not with my Apple ipad. So i exported my Videos in .mov But the Magix Video deluxe MX can the .mov Video only with mp4 codec export. The h264 codec is in Magix only with MPEG4 export possible. Now i think, the Apple User can't see my Videos, and also i have testet the export scope with Magix MX, and i can see the .mov export is the better quality than .mpeg4 export. So what do you think is the best Video Format for upload to pond5?
Hello Klaus,
I would suggest exporting your footage as H.264 with a .mov container, which can be read on most systems.

Hello Curator,
Yes, but this is the problem! I have the newest version from magix video deluxe18(MX),and it can .mov container only with mp4 codec exporting. Only the MPEG4 container files can the magix Software exporting with h.264 codec.
Hello Klaus,
No problem, you can download MPEG Streamclip and convert the footage to H264 there.

I have never used the software you are describing. Many editing software allow export with .Mov and Photo Jpeg at around 91% quality. Does your software have .Mov Photo Jpeg?

You might have to purchase or download quicktime codecs.. there is also quicktime alternative for free.

I would recommend buying another low budget editor like Vegas Studio or Grass Valley Neo so you can upload in PhotoJpeg/Mov.

Do you have Vdub? Most of the codecs I have in after effects also show up there in Vdub. All of them.Install quicktime, k-lite codec pack and ffdshow. Then you should have everything you need.
I mostly do quicktime h.264, quicktime photo-jpeg, and lately quicktime DNxHD 220 10 bit.You can download Avid's DNxHD and install it.

P.S., don't download ffdshow, they no longer offer xvid codec for avi.

Whatever you do, FILMKLAUS, you want to end-up with a format most broadly useable by editors and acceptable to all sales sites like Pond5, Shutterstock, iStockphoto, Clipcanvas, etc. For better or worse that final distribution product is still PhotoJpeg or MotionJPEG. (H264 seems to coming up fast behind - I would give distributing solely in this format another year or two. If you have bandwidth upload access problems, it becomes immediately more attractive.) I think the http://www.stockvideoseller.com/public_html/topics/3-the-universal-formats-wha.html I put together a year ago still apply.
