getting ready to post sfx files

DavidBrown 21 Jul 2021 19:43
I was just curious about file names. I've been building my custom recorded sfx for quite a while and have a naming scheme of my own. For example, something like esms09256_ThunderStorm_large.wav. Can I post my existing names or should I smiplify? (all are on on an Excel doc for me to keep track). If the names are simpler, how are they identified as mine, as the creator?

Thanks, David

Hey David,

Thanks for writing in. You can use your own naming convention for your own records, and you are free to upload these to your account as long as they don't have special characters. Here's the section from the Contributor Portal about this:

Please be sure your file names do not contain any special characters or accents.
Examples: &, å, ñ, é, ß, ®, ©, §, ç, ä, ø, ü, quote marks (“ ” or ‘ ’), or commas (,)

Spaces and dashes are not allowed.

Once you have uploaded the files, you'll need to change the title to something more descriptive of the track. The original filename will still be searchable on the "Tech Data" tab on your uploads page.

Email us at support@pond5.com if you have any more questions.
