Nope - it puts out progressive. Make sure you use a progressive codec on AE (quickitme photojpg or PNG or Animation) depending on what it is.

I saw one of your files (counting money) and it is PhotoJpeg progressive Your Nikon D5100 shoots progressive video. 30p/25p/24p. You are okay. (http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d5100/spec.htm)
Each clip in P5 has a button called "Technical Information". You can see there files details.
Forget about the HDMI output thats only for playback on your TV..

When I use MPEG Streamline I set it to Export to Quicktime - MOV, Photojpeg, 88% quality, interlace scaling unchecked (off), no sound. Do not go under 86% or over 95%. I have never used a Nikon. Go to Youtube for video reviews and settings,
Streamline is very good but you cannot color correct as in other editing programs. You cannot increase or decrease the playback speed of the clip and it is practically impossible to get to the frame you want.
Ionescu suggested Blender as a free option. I recommend Vegas Studio Platinum 12 as a starting editing program which is easy to use.
