Basic lenses to have for Canon dslr?

@RekindlePhoto, 70-200 f2.8 is really a perfect lens for shooting stock... but, it's freaking expensive. I'm borrowing mine until I earn enough for my own lens.

One of my favorite lenses is my Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm. I use it on my GH2 which makes it a 140-420mm lens with the 2x crop factor. It can easily be used on a Canon with the right adapter as well. Can be had for about $60 on Ebay if you don't mind manual. Some are not made as well as others though since I believe Vivitar contracted several makers..ie Komine, Tokina, Cosina etc to make them, so some are better than others. I took this tulip clip with one.

If you can borrow a 70-200L f4 I think you will also be impressed and to start to earn money for an upgrade, it is a lot cheaper in price but excellent quality.

@MichaellWard agreed! I still have mine that I bought new w/ my Nikon FE2 back in the day... Just picked up an adaptor for it ;)

Cool Acme, good to see someone else is using it. I bought it on ebay and it was so damn heavy that I just kind of left it on the shelf for awhile...then one day I took it out with me for the above video shoot and was really impressed with the quality. I like it better than my kit 14-140mm Panasonic lens.

I went with the 18-55mm STM that comes with the Canon T5i and added the 55-250mm and the nifty 50mm for my starter kit. Will be trying to save up for some nicer ones like the "L" series. Would you all recommend buying the L's used like off of craigslist or Amazon or is that too risky?
