Possible to use wireless or cable release for video?

Sorry for the ignorant question.

I always notice a slight shake at the the beginning and end of a footage when I am shooting. It makes me wonder if it is possible to use wireless or cable release. I tried, but cannot figure out how to make it work.

Please enlighten me! Thanks!

Using some models of Canon and http://www.magiclantern.fm/ - yes - you can use remote control or half-press-shutter to start video recording.

Lots of choices. Don't you edit your video? I always edit the front and end by at least a few frames to ensure a slight shake is removed. Most good cameras come with a remote. Another I have is called Triggertrap. Some will link through your smart phone. Lots of options but easiest is trimming the front and back in processing.

Zygi and Rekindle, thanks for the replies.

I shoot with Canon 60D. Since the camera is still under warranty and extended warranty, I am not willing to add Magic Lantern until the warranties expire, which will be a long time. I will also buy a 70D when I get to see more reviews.

Yes, for now, I edit the shake portions out. However, if my exposure and everything else is fine, I wish to find a solution to avoid the shake so I can upload directly. I will look into Triggertrap.

Magic lantern doesn't void your canon warranty.

dapoopta, I looked into ML last year, it will affect the warranty according to my understanding, because the original camera settings will have to be altered.

I just looked at Triggertrap. I cannot find where it says it can trigger video shooting. I mean real time video, not time lapse photography/video. Have I missed something?

Trigger trap can if using infra red... sometimes... that is all. Nothing to see here.

I use a cheap remote shutter release cable I bought on ebay for $25. I use it for timelapse mostly, but it can also be used for preventing shake..other than that just trim the first 2 seconds or so of footage on MPEG Streamclip.
