58mm filters are larger than 50mm lenses, which means that the size of the object mounted in front of the camera is larger than what the camera was designed for, which can cause the object attached to interfere with various functions that are mounted around the lens in the front of the camera.

You can lose camera functionality, you can turn on the conversion lens mode, or you can buy the proper sized lens instead of a ring to upsize it.
