4K Confusion

Two questions:

1. There does not seem to be a standard on what size is 4K. A quick search shows 4096 as pretty standard on side but other is 3112, 2160 and 2304 and probably more. Any true standard?

2. A while back Jake requested a cleanup of 4K clips that were not 4K. Ryan said it was a priority and would be done. Problem is not just a keyword spam but comments in the description. Many artists use descriptions similar to "original shot in 4K" or "shot in 4K and downsized to HD". As more 4K becomes standard, buyers will not be happy sorting through non- 4K because of description as well as keywords. Heck when searching "4K" even photos show up. Kinda easy to fix if P5 does a simple 4K search and deletes "4K" from keywords and description now, next year it will be a much more difficult job.

Here in Los Angeles most post facilities are going with the UltraHD 4K flavor as the "standard" @ 3840 x 2160 to match the "next generation" televisions, and since Hollywood generally shoots on RED these days, the down-res is not an issue.

Don,

What is write on the description doesn't appear in search results.

I use term "4K" even in HD clips but only in description. Those clips not appear in search for "4K" term.

Some users use the term "4K" in title and keywords. Those clips even if are not in 4K resolution appear in search results for "4K" term.

Ryan knows all the artists who spam and he promised to solve this spam issue.

Now are 2644 clips tag as "4K" with resolution under 4K and the numbers are growing weekly.

3112, 2160 and 2304 (in vertical lines) are different aspect ratio of the 4K format.

The TV standard for 4K is Ultra HD 4K 3840 x 2160 16:9 aspect ratio.

I shoot 4096x2160 which can be easily cropped to 3840 x 2160 and for time lapse clips I use 4096x2304 16:9 which also can be easily downsized to match the standard Ultra HD 4K 3840 x 2160.

I and some users here upload a single version of the 4K format but some artists upload all versions of 4K format which can result in duplicates but this is not my problem.

The description is indeed a searchable field just like the keyword field. I just did a "4K" search and one example I was hesitant to show because he is a great artist with super products ... used as a description example only.

No 4K in keywords just in description:

There is a separate issue that Pond5 mis-identifies vertical clips as 4K in the advanced search.

Don, You are right! But I also use the 4K term in HD clips description but my HD clips doesn't appear for "4K" term.

Maybe the search engine look only in first 2-3 rows from description where I did not use the word 4K.

I integrate the 4K term in the 4th row of description. Maybe that's why!!!???
All my HD clip who have 4K term in description doesn't show up in search for 4K term.

Some of the clips who have 4K in description:

I dunno, guess it's an issue that P5 needs to look into, none of us want to make buyers wade through non-4K clips or even worst photos that come up with 4K searched. Not sure why any photos would ever show up but they do. Now is the time for P5 to clean this up and help make it right.
