H264 or H265, MP4 or MOV?

As far as You Tube is concerned there seems to be a suggestion using the codec H265 and/or the format .MOV can limit your potential audience due to these being less supported mainstream than H264 and MP4. Never considered might also apply to potential buyers on Pond5 but wondering if this is the case.

Pond5 does opf course support these codecs / formats but doesn't mean they are preferred by some of the customers who visit the library. Guessing this is a non-issue but just putting it out there.

it's up to the end user to render the final codec as to what they need. I only supply Prores since it's much easier to edit, then they can render their edit to H264 or H265.
I've been doing that for many years and never heard from anyone they couldn't use what I upload.
some of my earlier videos I did upload H264 but I stopped that as I said since it's pretty compressed.
I see you do some pretty awesome historical clips, I do that but in a smaller scale in my studio. But that is what sells most for us.
