Finally got my Canon HV20

WOW, battery is charging and tonight the fun starts. After using an older DV camera I look forward to giving this a run. Any suggestions from other owners on best features and ways to use it? Has anyone really noticed a difference between the normal DV versus HD DV tapes? How's the white balance, auto pretty good or does it seem to wonder? Let the clips begin ;)

Ok bad news foe HV20 and windows XP!.
.
After spending 1 1/2 hours on the phone to Canon support it was decided that the drivers for Windows XP will not support HD capture in any programs. They tried it in Premier as well as Windows Movie Maker. When the camera was set back to playback in normal SD mode it worked fine. In Windows Vista it also worked ok in HD mode. SOoooo if you get a HV20 and you are running Windows XP don't plan on using the HD capability. That kinda sucks ;(

Have you asked Adobe about this? They have been quite good with creating their own drivers when the camera vendors havn't. Maybe we'll see a good solution with the final version of Premiere CS3.

I sure hope they all get together and make it work. I just ordered Adobe Production Studio Premium so in June they should release the complete CS3 version. I hope it works by then too.

I don't really like the auto on it, the camera tries too hard to focus and instead of doing it gradually, which looks good at times, it tries to do it really fast, I just leave it on manual all the time.

Don,

We're using Windows XP and Edius Pro4.5 for HD and it works just fine. Of course We are also using an Intel Dual core Hyper threading CPU.

Well the HV20 works fine so just to complicate things I just bought the Canon XH-A1 to supliment it. Playing with the 24fps now, lots of new buttons to play with.

Don,
I'm still waiting for someone to look at that clip which I converted to HD. By the way are you at home or still out of state?
