Slow Motion and GH4

Those who have the gh4, do you like the Variable Frame Rate Stuff?

I have tried the slow motion at 96 fps slowed to 24 fps internally in the camera.
here is one I did of the kids at the pool.

Has anyone tried time lapse with this function?

I haven't used the timelapse mode on the GH4 yet, but I have to think it's the same as the GH3, on which I got this one:

I did grab some 4K timelapses on my GH4 last weekend, but I simply recorded for 10 minutes then sped it up. Like this one:

On the GH3 (or any other camera), you could shoot timelapses this way, too, but you were only able to get 1080. If you wanted a 4K timelapse, you had to use the individual stills option. But that method takes much more time.

I'm not saying recording video then speeding up is the "right" way to do it, but it does have advantages:

1. You don't have to sit in one place as long to get an end result similar to a stills-only timelpase
2. Since you're speeding up the video, you can add a motion blur to easily obscure moving faces or logos (like on cars) or even license plates ( did that above, and also like to effect on the moving water)
3. If you also wanted a real time version, you have it. I was able to also submit a 25-second realtime version of the above clip:

Of course, there are disadvantaged with this method. A few are:

1. Uses up a lot of space on your cards
2. You don't have hi-rez stills to also use as stock photos (although 4K frame grabs are almost just as good)
3. Unless you record for a very long time, the motion effect may not be as dramatic as a traditional timelapse where each picture may be taken at a greater interval

So, as I move forward with the GH4, I'll probably do a mixture of both timelapse methods.

I would add the advantage of working on raw files instead an mp4 which is a big difference...longer sequence like day to night...stars sequence...at the end i think you can be more creative with stills but it needs more time to post and more skills...
