How important is broadcast-quality to buyers?

As I understand, broadcast quality video is 1080hd, 50Mbit (or higher) 4:2:2

I am searching for a run-and-gun video camera in the $2,000 to $4,000 price range. My Canon 5DM2 is great for controlled situations, but I also need:
- auto-focus,
- image stabilization,
- face recognition,
- 1080/60p slow motion and
- EVF quality electric view finder
- 20x optical zoom would be a plus

So, should I buy a broadcast quality camera or is that important to buyers? I don’t want to lose a market segment (TV and motion picture) due to file deficiencies. Also, any camera recommendations are appreciated.

And how do buyers know that a clip is broadcast quality? Should you keyword, "broadcast quality, 50Mbit, 4:2:2". I have not seen that done much.

Thanks

If you explore P5 you will notice that very few artist identify the camera they are using.
In SS camera type is not even requested.

If you explore this forum you will notice that artist are buying the new Sony AX100 or the Lumix GH4 because they are shifting to 4k.

I hope this answers your question.

Have a look in "artist resources" at "best of the week/month" and check the kind of cameras used. It might give you a feeling of what high-end customers are happy buying - just a thought.

I'd be interested in what artists, who have contact and feedback from buyers, think about this issue.

As someone who works in the broadcast world, there are two schools of thought when it comes to programming, the old school die hards who follow the broadcast standards to a tee, and the new school professionals who realized that a growing percentage of content (almost overwhelmingly) is being ingested over the web via phones, tablets and computers rather than classic television broadcasting and as such makes broadcasting standards entirely moot.

Its a changing world right now, and I'll see producers in one breath preaching the need to maintain high standards in what gets broadcast and then 2 minutes later they call for us to pull a clip from youtube to broadcast.

So to answer your question - no… I don't think those matter anymore at least not to most people who are buying stock from a micro stock site.
