michaelgyori: Interesting - I'd like to know what your machine is. I've found just the opposite. Damn, I wish this stuff always made sense!

Weird. I was just recently happy to discover this for myself as I've never been able to playback my PhotoJPG 4k footage on my PC. Earlier I had a i7 3770k (not overclocked) with 16gb RAM and my video on a huge RAID 0 setup with three 4gb 7200rpm drives. Now I have a i7 5960k overclocked to 4.5ghz with 32gb RAM.... and I'm loving the realtime playback of Red 6k footage at 1/2 debayer quality and realtime playback of ProRes422 4k footage. But even on this fast machine, PhotoJPG 4k video still stutters. Anyways, after some research, I've started to convert all my stock to ProRes422. Best quality ratio to size in my opinion. ProRes422HQ doesn't quite playback smoothly on my new machine. I've used Cineform in the past, but few people want it, and Premiere has had some bugs with it in the past. I purchased the Miraizon ProRes plugin for Premiere for $79 and love it.

Try installing the Shark007 Advanced Codec pack for Windows 8. Maybe that'll help.... but to be honest, the video codec situation on PCs is a nightmare. I wonder if Microsoft will ever clean it up.
