4k mov size using quicktime

Hi All,

I use quicktime to export 250 jpg photos as time lapse video. I put the export quality around 80-90 but it is always same 6.8g in size.

I wonder what is wrong with the setting that I can't reduce the mov smaller?

Quicktime (.mov) is a container. A codec is contained in this container. Some codecs (like ProRes and variants) do not change nitrate by the "quality" slider.

Try to select codec Pjpeg (Photo-Jpeg) or h.264 and see what happens if you move the quality setting. 6.8 GB is way too big. You might be in Uncompressed?

oic..thanks. I think it could be i used a codec other than photo-jpeg. Will check and try to convert again.

How long (minutes) is the file you're trying to upload? Are you using Apple's Quick Time 7 or have you upgraded Quick Time Pro?

In QTP there is a stand alone H264 in the drop down menu which are better then the one in QT drop down. I have a video on Vimeo which is 2min 8sec long and it is only 150Mb's long. Now that's a small file. The original footage for that piece was 1.5Gb's and using QT's H264 would have been much larger that the 150Mb's that sent to Vimeo. This footage was shot in 720p @ 120 fps and edited at 60fps. Check the link below.

Normally a clip 10 - 30 sec can be any wheres between 250Mb's - 800Mb's depending on content and length.
