Due to the search bug that makes our hd downconverted and associated files disappear if buyers search using the price range sliders(4k price is the reference price)i'm wondering if it still worth to upload 4k material here at pond5 considering the extra time on editing and uploading, the price issue and most important it makes your hd downconverted invisible most of the time since many buyers usr those sliders to fine their search...i guess...
any thought??

I'm sure this bug won't be permanent - and if you're at all concerned with future proofing your footage you'd be better off to upload 4K.

Agree, but first, pond5 needs to prove that it is a bug and not a feature which i seriously doubt at this point.
So if its the latter, then apparently one needs to consider "workarounds" unless he really needs to sell that 4K at a high price and doesn't care about his hd or views
In every case that i uploaded the 4K and a hd separate version with same title and screenshot but sometimes in different framerate or movement changes (pan etc),or no changes at all, the hd got massive views as opposed to the 4K.And its the version that sold first and sold more.Same when i lowered the 4k price the views and sales started then. And no it's not a coincidence.

So really what needs to be accomplished by the programmer at P5 is to have a way to set 4k prices and HD prices in two different columns on our CSV files. Forget the fancy percentage thing that is a total dud. How hard can that be? If a buyer searches by price, he sees the clip with a notation that the price search is for an HD version of the clip. How hard can that be? Seriously, how hard can it be?

What a great suggestion!!!! And really such an easy way to fix the problem very quickly. It's been pointed out before many times but for some reason dismissed.

This fix is very welcome indeed. Especially for future proof resolutions as 4k, you would expect these clips higher in ranking. I've noticed too, that native hd resolutions sell better, compared to the downscaled 4k>hd versions of similar clips. That's weird. Downscaled 4k>hd clips do have an immense quality gain compared to native hd. Now, these clips are missed by just a search algorythm which doesn't take into account the pricing of 4k>hd downscaled clips. I hope this fix will get top priority.

The easiest fix i think is take the hd downconverted price as reference price...

It's understable why new content from 4k upload take longer to sale here...it simply can't be seen...
