That is cool!
Have you seen any video of it in action? I can't find anything.

This company has almost every drone to offer, on the road, flying, and diving.

Been thinking of that for a while. But not GoPro, thank you very much. Not only submarine, but marine, in that a maneuverable craft with gimbal mount topside with remote control both for electronically stabilized gimbal, but also propulsion, and ability to disguise craft as a natural object (say a floating log) to allow more immediate proximity to wildlife near, in or on water without implications of harassment or worse ... they take fright, and fly or run away ....

Basic problem for subs is they require a floating device to tether to to allow communication to control radio and wireless video feed. Darn things don't work through water.... (yet)

Still -- exciting stuff! I'll name mine "Jonah"

Gene,

It is just the beginning. I am sure they will improve their product to serve your appetite .

Just tell me, the pessimist, what do I do when the cable entangles in some corals?
Mizamook 16 Jun 2015 06:34
My appetite included navigation of black holes. Sitting here chomping at the bit, waiting for the B&H notification so I can pre-order the "drone that does it all" ....

No, I'd likely end up building the water machine. .. it's pretty specific, and for me will include above water and below water cams .. Hardest part is figuring out what to do if an eagle lands on it ... or a sea lion eats it.

@wideweb ... I'm with you on that.

Don't go there.

or

Bring a snorkel and something besides Speedos

They do have a version to use 30meter cable. Don't know if it helps when stuck.
Mizamook 16 Jun 2015 06:50
Longer the cable more chance for a recovery dive after entanglement. The more interesting spots are probably also more dangerous. Shorter cable reduces usefulness. Anytime using a remote camera (aerial, marine, or submarine) involves risk. If you are NOT OK with the possibility that you never see your pet robot again, then don't send it out.
