auto-reading of sound file metadata

Why can't Pond 5s uploader read metadata from the sound file's metadata header and automatically fill in all those time-consuming fields. People working with sound effects use database software such as Library Monkey or Soundminer and routinely write tons of metadata into their file headers. It would be really helpful if Pond5 could read this info and populate all those fields that we so laboriously have to fill in manually.

Nobody is answering because nobody knows, except Pond5 tech staff, and they ain't tellin'.

Nor do they care.

No need to be passive aggressive, Mizamook. Of course we care.

My understanding is that our systems are supposed to read meta data from uploads, as you described. So either I'm misinformed, which is possible, or there's another problem. In the latter case, you'll need to contact support directly by emailing <support@pond5.com> so that we can troubleshoot that with you.

I'll find out for sure about metadata and audio uploads, and let you know if I was right or not.

Sorry Jonathan, I was responding in greater part to a dearth of agency-submitter communication, which seems to be lessening rather than growing, of late.

But I'm glad to hear I'm wrong!

There are a few places in the uploading/tagging system that are responsible for wasting of time, and seem like they could be automated, changed, or eliminated.

For instance, whether a clip has audio or not ... that checkbox is redundant, no? And most clips do not have audio, so why is it defaulted to Yes? This is an old issue.

The loss of the "Just Sold" section saddened and angered a lot of people, but we never got it back.

The loss of clip info like amount of views and sales takes a valuable bit of data from us - now we are shooting more blindly -- it's bad enough! We need more information, not less.

Weird rejections of photos (not mine - I do video) that I hear about from many friends as well as on forum ... is there no quality control for photo curators? (Perfectly good/sharp/noise-free/well composed, etc. rejected while some marginal photos accepted, with no rhyme or reason, or communication) This is a two-way street, this business...we should work together, with openness and constructive communication, to further the creation, tagging, curation, buying, selling ecosystem!

Again, sorry for being passive aggressive. Probably belongs in a different thread.

Works fantastic with footage when exporting with final cut x. Please Pond 5. With all your fixes and changes you keep making don't ever let this function stop working. It saves me hundreds of hours a month.

Indeed things like auto filling data like audio or ratio seems like a very simple matter, and putting the ability to add a release while on the data input page. Streamlining data input like it used to be would a wonderful gift. hint hint Batch tag and a character counter please on descriptions blocks in the batch tag, templates and manual data input page. Oh the days when P5 was simple, fast and easy ....

So what`s the conclusion? I`d love to hear what metadata i need to provide when exporting SFX and Audiofiles for Pond5. As it has been stated here before, it saves me a lot of time and that would be a benefit not only for me but for pond 5 also. I could submit a lot more.

Is there anyone who can tell what i need to export for? Like xmp, CARINFO, CART?
