Wow! $799 pre-order. Later will be $999.
Even there is orders from China. They must have done something right. DJI's Drone market may be in danger.

I have been super interested in this drone other than it does not shoot in 4k. If I remember right it won't officially come out until april and by then the sensor and image quality will be so far behind the rest of the small action cameras. If they were putting a newer camera system in it I wouldn't think twice about buying one.

You are right, who want old technique in a few months. DJI has 4K with 4/3 chip in the market, they only need to make a new Drone with protection of the propella. these can be very danger, it cut many fruits and vegetable in a movie already. A singer hurt his hand badly in his concert, well his own stupid action.
Do you want to film yourself on bike, canoe, jogging, running etc? May be good to film your whole family happily picnicing. Wow. Do I get a commission for the idea? :D
BTW: GoPro share drop under initial price. now 15 something only. Because they can't deliver a new 4K gopro with Drone. They missed the Christmas holiday shopping. Other competitor is rising up a lot ...

t's much easier to stay on top than crash and try to regain trust. GoPro is killing themselves and it will be a hard recovery. Promises don't sell. I'm not overly impressed with the Lily. At a few hundred dollars maybe but at $999 or even $799 there is just too much completion and the technology of a follow drone is old news. Marketing hype is good for Lily.

Now lot of KickStarter is just fancy, want to have a basic customers before they go into production, charge a high price and idiots just buy it. Or some just run away with the money, or never deliver.
GoPro soon will be a nobody, see who will buy their name. A company without its real factory to backup is a hindernis. Design and test takes ages, then production can't catch up with the demand, market is saturated with all other competitor's products. etc etc..
