Uploading to Specifications question.

I've got a lot of footage that I'm just beginning to make ready for posting. I'm having a hard time getting it into a Pond 5 acceptable format.

Apparently it's not just an .mov file that's necessary, it's more than that? Any suggestions on making things easier for me?

My footage is mostly digitized into mgp2 or avi form but originally shot in a variety of formats like Beta SP, HDV, MiniDV, JVC720p etc.

I currently edit with pinnacle.

Really only need to ask question in one of the forum threads. Yes a normal .MOV with either Motion JPEG or Photo JPEG depending on progressive or interlaced footage. I have no idea on Pinnacle. There are lots and lots of discussion on similar questions buried in the threads here. Good luck ;)

Pinnacle exports to AVI. You will need to convert to .mov. I have read here that there are software programs that will do that for you, but not sure of the actual names. If you have access to Final Cut, you can pull in the AVIs and re-export as .mov.

The best program I have found to convert most any kind of file to .mov is ProCoder3. It will preserve the quality of your original footage.

Try http://www.squared5.com/ It is a freeware program and many of us here started out using it before spending more money on a real commercial grade program. I know many who still use it, it is a good program, give it a try.
