Perhaps pond5 ought to have a way of automatically downsizing HD clips upon buyer's demand to any required lesser format and charge accordingly - "on the fly". The buyer would specify pal, ntsc or perhaps even a custom crop for their project and then pay a couple of dollars if it's only 320x240, for argument's sake.
Such an auto-sampling feature would do wonders for pond5's reputation and rvenue and empower their contributors to create more content.
If it cannot be done on the fly, which seems feasible to me, then perhaps pond5 can just "churn" or "digest" HD files to preset formats such as NTSC and PAL and make them available for download automatically when ready.
