Audio search overhaul is needed

I see some problems with audio search which are hanging here for years. And watching P5's audience growth I want to share some suggestions to improve current situation:

1) "Search by name" field/checkbox.

Initially P5 was focusing on video and naming video clips by its content is logical. No one expect from waving flag video names like "Unbowed Freedom" or "Shining Glory", but with music tracks its not that simple.

We have tons of thousands music tracks with "spam" names like "Action сinematic orchestral #99". Names which were designed to fulfill searchable tags role. Its not only unaestethic but it also increases irrelevance in search resulsts leaving audio items with artistic naming (which contains same tags in proper "tag" field) behind.

This option may be included in "advance search" mode to preserve initial UI simplicity (quite trendy thing to care).

2) "Author" filtering.

Show/hide tracks from certain author. If you ever tried to find music on P5 you probably know what I am talking about. Some contributors' quality just does not fit your project and you do not want to waste your time on their stuff. The more tools you have to refine your search – the better.

3) List view instead of picture view.

Again, for video content it's ok to have wall of pictures for faster recognition but for audio it's completely useless. Tell me if you remember how your track's waveform "looks" like?

List view is more compact, can potentially contain more useful info (in single line) such as duration/price/name/author/PRO/etc... and user can control when (if) it will be played. No autoplay (or toggleable, default= off) on hovering, of course.

P.S.: it is good to already have duration/price sliders in advanced search and paged/infinite view options.

Hi @Trans_OM,

Great suggestions, and some are already in the pipeline.

When it comes to titling music tracks, I think a creative/practical approach is the way to go ("Jamming in Havana with Santana (Latin Groove)" as opposed to "Acoustic Latin Groove 43," so to speak ;)

Default List View for music and SFX is a must-have for me and will hopefully be re-appearing sometime in the near future.

Thanks again; constructive ideas are always welcome!

as a musician, is always difficult to name my tracks! :)
also because usually they can adapt to very different context. a descriptive or poetic title may limit its visibility or appeal? a title with some tag is sometimes better. for example i have a lot of rock audiologo or stingers, i think naming them with a unique title like "rock breeze", "ride the mortorbike" etc is not useful for a 5 second clip.
just my 2 cents...

i agree with more filter possibilities, but i really think that the waveform display is very useful, because it let you know what to expect.
