Pond5 Exposure - Very under-represented.

I feel like this website needs a drastic overhaul in its database structure. It seems impossible to find more recent submissions unless you search for it by name. There are categories like "Movie Trailers" and "Particles" in the After Effects section, that seem to only show submissions made years and years ago. It's really demoralizing to see that nothing is being done to showcase anything new. What incentive are you giving us sellers, if you don't promote us appropriately?

These are the first pages of the Movie Trailers and Particles sections:

Why in the world do they show THREE of the same projects in each?! And some of these submissions (I won't name them) were created 5 years ago! Why is the "Best Match" sorting filter the default, if it's so broken that it includes severely outdated submissions? It's very frustrating.

Then I'm looking on the forums and I find that the same threads are placed in THREE different subforums:

There is clearly a major problem with your database structuring. Please fix it, or at least respond to us and acknowledge that it needs fixing. This is why most of us tend to make more money on Videohive and other template sites; because they understand that a user shouldn't have to click through FOUR pages to get to relevant submissions.

I see there is a new CEO at Pond5; please make more of an effort to promote us sellers appropriately.

At least for the forums, they look normal on my end. Submission to the forum was frozen for a while.

Seems someone (DesignsBy3ngine) doesn't know how the search tools work. Seems to work just fine here as well. Some with very small portfolios and no sales seem to have nothing else to do but complain.

Jason you're clearly not interested in even trying to understand what i'm talking about so please keep your unconstructive comments to yourself.

It's not about the search tools. I'm talking about promoting sellers like you and me in ways that are intuitive to new and emerging trends. Search tools don't provide a customer who doesn't know a single thing about current design trends to find something contemporarily relevant.

Look at rocketstock.com, videohive.net and videoblocks.com for example. All three sites allow a user to see what's new/popular on their front page. That's called promoting. Pond5 needs that.

I like the way Motion Elements do it - On the front page for each category they show the latest 'just sold' and latest 'just added' items which helps with exposure for all!

How do we make it easier to for users to quickly identify for what they are looking- even when they don’t tell us for what they are looking?
What is deemed relevant?
What is the definition of relevancy?
How do we identify footage that is inspirational or uplifting vs. sad or even non emotive?
How do we cluster our collection based on themes or categories to enable users to browse?
What do users want to browse?

You can help!

wideweb, wow, thanks for that link! It's really makes me feel better to know that Pond5 is actively looking to fix these issues.

paulorego, I like that system a lot. It would be so much more intuitive to first-timers to identify what's trending.

By first-timers, i mean first-time buyers.
