Another Reason to Loathe DJI

For something so tiny, it should do better. Initial results (besides still having a warm feeling for the flying control and smoothness and portability and flight time) to me suggest that DJI intentionally crippled the codec to drive quality-minded folks to P4P and I2 (becasue if you REALLY care, you WILL get the I2 with the X5S, but sorry, it won't quite fit in your pocket)
Yeah, the compression is what's the problem here. REALLY BAD. Plus aliasing, even with using D-Cinelike, -1,-1,-1 Will try D-Cinelike -2,-2,-2 next.
Might be "ok" to render UHD to HD. Will also try shooting 2.7K and downrezzing, hoping same bitrate makes less artifacts.
Furthermore, the Go 4 App, now on my Galaxy S7, worked great .. no problems (If you are flying toward building or moutnain and App crashes, let go of forward cyclic ... ! don't keep moving forward) HOWEVER now the regular Go App crashes using Osmo RAW ... I mean, like unusable ... yet another pissy message sent to DJI (and research in forums indicates I'm not alone) I really liked the Osmo on jib and slider .. now it doesn't work. THANKS DJI
Man, those guys suck. They make nice, tidy, wasteful Apple-like packaging, but they can't code test for shit, apparently.

This morning i went out with my mavic and suddendly the go app4 wanted to be upgraded...3 days ago the mavic firmware was absolete and needed to be upgraded...it's frustrating that every few days there is a need to upgrade something!!!
Dji needs to make a stable system and stop to mess things!!!

I just do all my app and software updates daily and check for firmware updates before a mission, got burned just last week by not doing that, was with DJI Osmo+ actually, it threw me right off too. Most of the times all my software updates itself overnight....except this one app and sure enough.

So ... yeah ... here I was getting all stoked on having my DJI X5R hanging on the end of a jib, which is mounted on a slider, and that's cool getting shots like all get out (not that they are silly stocky people with arms in the air playing with tablets or whatever and will likely never sell ,but hey .. pretty amazing to get this kind of shot anyway and who knows, maybe there is a happy gnome under that ice shelf who just got a text that the merger was successful and they feel the need to look silly and stick their arms in the air, but I digress) ... one of the problems with this setup is that in order to pull focus, while operating the pan/tilt of the OSMO via the App, and the slider is doing its thing, (sliding) and the jib isn't automated (since I have not figured that out yet) and the objects that are of interest come and go with regard to focus, I figured I need to bite the bullet and buy yet another bit of gear.
DJI Focus Handwheel for Osmo Pro/RAW. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1285327-REG/dji_cp_zm_000456_osmo_part76_dji.html
Pretty cool huh? (it is, actually - nicely built and very smooth, hi tech, and sexy, to boot)
Yeah. So since I am on a jib/slider, and need wired remote focus, I followed the LINK at B&H to order the nifty adapter cable, (2 meters long should do the trick nicely, I thought)
I was wrong.
Some PERSON at DJI Engineering To Annoya Tech decided to post this cable: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1285301-REG/dji_cp_zm_000411_osmo_part_66.html/pageID/accessory not only at DJI as an accessory to the Focus Handwheel, but at B&H, so now B&H, who are pretty much clueless about DJI stuff, gets the brunt of my ire, and what is this all due to?
Allow me to get to the point. The point, being, or, more aptly put, the connections at the ends of the cable .. are DIFFERENT.
Does not work. Not meant to . This cable was meant for focus pullers to extend their reach and use separate monitors, while pilots flew Inspire 1/2. For use with DJI Focus, a WIRELESS unit ...
But they don't tell you that, do they? Eh?
Gah. I waste so much time due to this type of thing.
The designing engineers could EASILY have foreseen and prevented this. Now I have my doubts that there exists a cable (Can-Bus) that will work for this purpose, which means TWO boxes get to be sent, at my expense of time and money, back to the original senders.
Stupid.
I'm OK with blaming me for making stupid mistakes ... I do plenty ... but even now I see no indication that I should have known ...
I love DJI. They are so ... inept. But also amazing. It's like ... I dunno ... really interesting. I think they would be very good friends with the Commandeer in (word). I mean .. they have so much in common. Excepting, of course, that DJI's ideas actually sometimes work ... and when they do: Brilliant!

Update: Took a chance and ordered 2 of the $25 cables intended for use with the DJI Focus Handwheel to go to the Inspire 2 controller, connected them together end to end with steel wires stuck in the connectors ... it freaking WORKS. (Osmo RAW remote focus with Focus Handwheel) DJI themselves could not tell me if such would work. I'm currently awaiting my paycheck.
Maybe they will waive the charge they are trying to levy for repair of a Z3 camera I sent them for blurry right side flaw. They say it's cuz I painted it ... I have video proof that the camera sucked before it was painted ... jerks.

Funny ... all I did was mask all the ports and vents and motors and lens very carefully to paint it black ... nothing artistic about it. Well it did come out rather nice, and didn't reflect inside the dome it was in ... of course they are not responding to my letter explaining all this.

Two of my Osmo Raw batteries did not hold charge after a day if not used. Said to return them. One had possible small leak, (fuzzy granules left in charger and on bottom of battery) So they said dispose of properly, do not send in mail.
They finally replaced ... with only ONE.
Thieves!
More time wasted screaming at DJI low level tech. They are not deserving this ... it is sad. This case is petty and pathetic, but when I pay for something, I damn well better get it. The whole DJI system is inept and corrupt.
Why go pay them money then, you ask! OK ... well .. find product that gives this functionality as well. It is not possible (yet). But when it is, they will lose my business. I am not impressed. EVERY purchase from them has had issues of some sort, and much time wasted.

I had some bad luck with my P3S but after 30 days of brutal persistence (only because I was working on a project that allowed me to sit on hold for as long as I needed) and I got it replaced with a New Bird. :)
My P4P has been operating flawlessly, and I'm happy with that. However I'm looking at Autel and Typhoon as a possibilty for the next platform.
I'm hoping that I'll have time to fly some stock missions over the summer! :)
