Hi,
I have tons of good stuff shot on Sony XDCAM and I am creating clips on an Avid Media Composer Adrenaline with DNxcel.
I am going over and over the submission guidelines and I can't figure out how to upload 30 second HD clips.
I am using the following;
Compressor: Motion JPEG B
Depth: Color
Quality: Best
Field count: 2
Field Dominance: Even
Dimensions: 1920x1080
29.97fps, no audio
The best results I get are 20 seconds 494MB
So how can I get a :30 MJPGB clip under 500MB?

Probably can't. Many of my 15 second clips are 500mb. If you can get 20 seconds under 500mb go for it. I personally don't like to reduce quality to get a longer clip. If the buyer wants a longer clip they can call and then without the 500mb limit it is possible. Best of Luck, Don

Thanks, Don,
Competitive websites are allowing larger file sizes.
Any idea if Pond5 will increase the upload limit to 750MB as this would allow us to upload :30 HD clips like their competitors ...?

If you have a real spectacular clip that really needs to be larger than 500mb e-mail P5 and they'll work with you. As said here before, most clips are cut down to a few seconds for most commercial use. You'll be happy here, much better sales than the "other" places. P5 staff are easy to work with. The ease of use, preview of clips are much better. Biggist issue I see is a little slow at review of clips but I suspect that after April this should speed up. Best of luck,
Don

Why not divide the clip in half and tag it as such. The customer buys both clips if they need all 30sec and you're under 500mb.

We will accept clips above 500 MB, if there is a good reason - such as a slow pan or movement within the frame. Generally, though, 15 seconds is more than enough for a stock footage shot.

I also shoot on XDCAM HD, and depending on complexity, an average 15 second HD clip works out around 160Mb. Most of my stuff is shot progressive 25fps and I use PJPEG to compress.
Are you compressing at "best" 100% quality? if so, try dropping the quality to between 95-98%. This actually makes a big difference to file size.
Good luck,
