Raw footage, or do you add color correction before upload?

Hey all,
Just trying to learn the ropes with how stock footage works... Is there a tutorial on do's and don'ts with color correction, frame rate, or any other editing type things? Thanks

Always color correct but not too much unless you’re going for some effect.
Always edit for content and to length.
Frame rate depends on what you want.
I do 30 but others shoot 24 or 25

awesome, thank you for the reply. Do you upload .mov or .mp4?

From my experience as an editor I prefer to work with Apple ProRes422 over H.264. Therefore I also upload only clips in ProRes422. But that depends if your have a fast internet or not because files are huge.

Like Daniel, I render ProRes only so it's .mov
Files are large but most people have fast internet to download a file.

Color correct to make clips pop/look nice, but leave room for interpretation and further adjustment/enhancement. Just sold a super enhanced clip on SS, and have sold plenty of "color incorrected" work for lots of money, so it might just be the concept that you are not selling reality (unless you are) you are selling an image. I started very conservative with my color work, fearful that "they" would notice, then a friendly POnd5-er wrote me and told me to gussy them up a bit, with example, and then I went way over the top, and am doing a bit of both now. For what it's worth I sell more colorful/poppy/over the top stuff than not.

If you render out h.264 as .mp4, change the extension to .mov so the Apple people like it better. I've been doing that (h.264) so I could get stuff uploaded, and after I amass enough clips I'll send in a drive with the ProResHQ files to replace (or link). Most of my sales of stuff uploaded as ProResHQ 4K gets sold as h.264 HD anyway, especially on "those other sites"

I dont sell a ton but I don't color correct any of my video. Maybe I would sell more if I did. I dont know.
