What is this?

The large display in the background supposed to be white, but instead it shows this weird matrix.
The display becomes white again when I zoom out.
What is it, how do I avoid it or fix it?

Probably due to a high shutter speed. These are most likely LED screens and these LED's basically flash in sequence to make it seem white to the naked eye. The camera sees lots more than we do, particularly at high shutter speeds.
