Main Page like on VideoHive

Hello!
I always thought why not make the first page like on Videohive? I mean, every new approved item appears on the main Videohive page among other 40 new works and they are gradually replaced by new items. I think this is a good opportunity for each new added work to gain popularity if it turns out worth it. I may be wrong, but I suppose that's what helps artists' sales grow, do you agree?

nope, every clip is important ... 8 years ago as well as new. The front page is really to attract attention not to sell. Buyers will search for what they want not buy from front page. Don't know anyone here that makes good money on vh but know a lot who make full time living here at p5. Agree the page need refreshing more often but not to emphasize new clips at expense of older popular ones.
p5 needs to make sales just like individual sellers.

i disagree also. see envato, who promotes on the first page the most sold (and maybe even newest additions), making all the sales go to people that already sell the most. any discriminatory promotion of clips on the main page seems not ok. if any, it should be like totally random picking, i mean totally.

like, imagine u make 1000 clips and upload them in one day, and then someone comes along making 1 per day. the one with 1 per day will end up havin more sales than u. i dont find this ok..

plus, why would a client be interested in *new* additions? he should be interested in varied and good additions, which, assuming the site's portfolio is varied and good, can be extracted by totally random pickings, not by favouring a category (like, new)

meanwhile, i see the item page has changed

The point is, I'm not talking about Hive's page where they promote best-selling authors. I also think it's discriminating. What I mean is the block called "Check out the newest video templates and stock footage from our community". It gives a good start for every newly approved item. If the item is worth it, it has a good chance to get sales. And every of the 40 items featured there apprears and goes away rather fast to give way to other new works. I uploaded one work there and got 2 first sales within half an hour, while my new item here got 2 views within 2 days.

ahhhh, nope. Equal representation for old clips too. In fact old clips need more marketing ;)

equal representation for either new or old is preferrable. u might have had 2 sales in half an hour, but after that, u probably didnt have any more (on those clips). at first glance u think that was good, but once they entered the "old" category, it wasnt that good. with equal repr. u wouldnt have had the initial 2 sales but u would have had regular sales on old items (which are always a lot more than your new ones)

Hmm, that makes sense...
