Just thought I would share this small but impresive gadget I started using yesterday with the 7D..
Personally I think the video start stop button on the 7D is in a poor spot. I also dislike the shake and jiggle that happens when you press it to turn video recording on.
I researched for special gadgets that might use wireless or infrared to be able to turn it on.
The solution for me was pretty simple the canon Remote control RC-1
set your camera in Self-Timer / Remote control mode, then switch to movie mode then you simple point the remote to the front of the camera click the button abd movie recording starts.
Im using a tripod - and i just reach over the back of the camera and generally point it to the lens and it works fine.
No more shaky starts and stops - I find those first and last few seconds can be important on lockdown shots.
Ive also been able to start movie recording by 'bouncing' the infrared off of hard surfaces that are about 4 feet away near the front of the camera from standing about 3 feet behind the camera - I havent experiemented with bouncing too much some people say a little mirror rig works.
anyway thought id share this

Thanks, nice idea I'll look into it. I did see an Optika brand version on Amazon for $12.95.
