Is AVC1 OK to upload?

Up until now I have been converting my HDV footage to Motion JPEG2 using Edius and Procoder3. I am about to sit down and prepare about 500 new clips. My question is, is it possible to simply export to any mov file? Edius 5.5 lets me export to QT with a avc1 stream. The quality looks better then Motion JPEG and the file size is about 80M for a 20 second clip compared to about 500M for the same length converted to Motion JPEG 2.

Why not call P5 and ask kennon. More than likely he's going to say upload in motion jpegb.

Hi Frank -- please upload a sample AVC1 file so we can take a look. Should be able to process it with no problems.

Is it smart to offer multiple codecs to customers? The same across the board seems to be the best... and until the industry standard changes, I wouldn't change.

Still waiting on Pond5 to implement the ability for buyers to re-encode video they've purchased server side. Once they do that, I would encode separately for Pond5 to give them higher quality files. I think buyers would appreciate it and would come to Pond5 over other sites for that feature.
