Is 4K worth shooting? I see many clips uploaded are in 4K. Do most clips sell at 4K or 1080?

For me it is about 50/50 so yes, it is worth it.

Right now? No.
But when HD was new, that didn't sell either.

Same as Varius. When I started stock I was shooting SD and didn't think HD would take off.
Now we're full circle with 4k and HD
So, unless you want to fall behind the competition, its not a question of "worth it" but you need to.

My days of shooting HD are over. 4k LOOKS GREAT. You can convert it to HD and the HD looks fantastic in my monitor. Agencies down convert to HD so that increases the chances of making a sale. The short answer is "yes". I think that in 2020 I will need a 6k camera. Hopefully they will be under $2k ... hopefully.

4K has been around for many years. To me it seems like it’s going the same way as 3D. Big hype but ultimately didn’t work

¿¿¿??? Why did you ask if you already made up your mind? Vader Video and JHDT are veteran members of Pond5. You can say that they are part of the "founding artist" of Pond5. Keep shooting in HD .... that way I will have less competition in 2019 and 2020+.

To anybody else reading this thread ... when I look at my neigborhood and see more families buying 4k TV's and placing a high speed internet connection to their houses to switch to "internet tv" for me it is obvious that soon their will be a mayor change on the how we get TV channels and 4k footage will be in high demand. They are "the millenial generation" ..... NO .... they are "gamer generation" which nobody speaks about. Maybe "Air TV will die" and Cable TV will have transform itself to Internet TV. Youtubers are switching to 4k cameras. My kids and grandsons watch Youtube and Netflix in their Ipads the whole day which have a 2048x1536 screen. Soon Ipads will reach 4k. If you ask gamers ... they want an 8k TV.
