When is a property release form needed?

I'm photographing and filming abandoned, derelict houses, inside and out. Is this something I can do without a property release? Someone told me that as long as the property can't be identified, it's not necessary. So should I remove all keywords about the precise location, and just broadly state the country? Or is that an irrelevant aspect? Someone else said it's ok to shoot outside, but not inside. Again, I don't know if this is correct. I'm utterly confused. Can someone shed light on this issue, please? Thanks in advance. :-)

Have you looked at the clips you have online of abandoned homes have a commercial listing? Where to homes are located really has nothing to do whether they are listed as commercial or editorial.
