4k in 50p of 25p ???

Hello fellow artists.
I am making an inquiry as to any advantage in me submitting 4k video content in 50p rather than my normal 25p? Is there a demand for this or is the demand greater for 25p?
Kindest wishes,
Mike Hardy

In terms of your videos having the longest possible "shelf life," it makes sense to post them at the highest resolution and highest frame rate possible. If you can do 4K/50p, I say go for it. It's easy to down-rez and down-rate videos and still get good results.

Trying to find a camera that can shoot 4K@50fps will be a challenge. Now there are a few camcorders that can shoot 4k@50fps but it depends on how deep your pockets are.

The Panasonic GH5s can record 4K 50p/60p at 8-bit 4:2:0 quality internally on SD cards, and it costs around $2,300 at Amazon. Not cheap, certainly, but within reach for many. The GH5s has many other shooting rates, including 4:2:2 10-bit 4K -- but you'll have to use an external recorder to get 4K 50/60p at 4:2:2 10-bit.

I had the impression that Mike (Continent5ive) already had a camera capable of 4K 50p, but perhaps he can answer that.

The GH5S is overpriced for a low-quality camera if one is using it for photos or timelapse.

Guys, I already HAVE the camera. The HC X1. I am merely seeking to establish whether there is a MARKET for 50p footage.

Thank you, pvreditor.
I didn't know whether or not potentiwl clients may have problems incorporating 50p footage on to, say, a 25p timeline.
Best wishes guys and thanks for your input.

Mike, I just realized which camera the HC-X1 is... that's the Panasonic HC-X1. I actually tested the HC-X1's twin (the UX180) camera for a few weeks and made a video review of it. Nice camera with a smooth 20x zoom lens and a relatively large (1-inch) sensor. The lens was really sweet. The only difference between the HC-X1 and the UX180 is that the UX180 has an SDI connector. Otherwise, the two are identical. Here's my review of the UX180: https://youtu.be/RAT0yqHGrFk

Bob - just had to jump in here. I have the HCX1. Your reviews was one I had watched awhile back before I bought it. I will eventually have a GH5 or maybe the new Nikon Z7 for more video (but backup for stills too). The HCX1 just fit for a lot of what I do but still get some stuff for Pond5 as well. Thanks for sharing that awhile back. I love it and it is great for wildlife work. At first was not liking the colors, but started using one of the cine styles and found it takes color grading very well.

Thanks, NSC_Photography! I had the UX180 for only a couple of weeks, but really enjoyed using it. I got a great deal on a GH5 this summer, and it is pretty good -- just amazing features. I have four nice Panasonic lenses: 12-35mm, 35-100mm, 12-60mm and 14-140mm. I love the GH5 with the 14-140, even though that's not the "best" of the lenses. Somehow, it's a terrific combination with the GH5. If you look at my 4K 4:2:2 videos, those are all from the GH5, and most use the 14-140 lens.

Thank you for the kind comment.

Bob
