Maybe we should have a tech discussion on another forum topic for letting us know how to get rid of grain in after effects.

And remember the 13th is when Scarlet gets unveiled. I'm thinking a DSLR.

The easiest way to do it is to create an adjustment layer, then go up to "noise and grain" in effects, (I think thats what its called, I use it so much I don't actually read it anymore) then click on "remove grain" ... set the pass to 5 and the level to 5. If it looks blurry then create another adjustment layer and go to the enhancements and do sharpen, set the opacity on that adjustment layer to 50%... (or you could always lower the pass or level) ... There are other weird ways to remove the grain but they depend on how the camera moves i.e. on a tripod, or pan or whatever. There are a lot of subtle ways you should tweak the settings, but generally you should create adjustment layers because AE is less likely to crash ... (on vista that is)

I'll have to try this with some footage I shot with my 35mm adaptor. I find in low light it puts more grain then I like and haven't uploaded any of the footage because of that.

vadervideo - it is just a particle emitter spitting out particles.

Cinema 4D (a very old copy) but you can do that in pretty much any 3D program.

I rendered it as little white dots on a black BG and did all the colour in After Effects.

Much more simple than it looks.
