BLACKMAGIC POCKET CINEMA CAMERA

Maybe a problem that instead of true "video" it takes 30 fps photos that needs to be processed back into a video?

Are you referring to the car grill? There's moire in the ProRes shot too after he pushes the saturation.

You guys still think that these gargantuan HD source files (raw) are worth the trouble for stock video?
JHDT_Productions 14 Nov 2013 15:05
I doubt I'll shoot RAW for everything.
But I may when I'm using the camera as a B camera. But definetly every time I shoot green screen

I'm not worried about the large files. Just the part that you can't delete anything in camera. So in the studio I can download the card to my PC
In the field that would be a problem so I'll shoot ProRes.

I shot some RAW test footage yesterday and was amazed and how much latitude I had with color correction.

I'll definitely be shooting RAW when it is an option.

DR looks great. Don, is it tough to get the color nice and rich or do you prefer to leave that to the buyer?

It takes practice to color grade it. The first couple weeks I was ready to throw it away. I still feel the menu system is very poor when trying to setup the camera and adjust settings. The screen outside is absolutely worthless due to glare. Compared to the 5D MK II/III the ease of use and ability to set the exposure is very poor. For my use it's a good small camera easily carried in my pocket when the big Canon L lens is just to much.

It does take great video. When viewed at 100% it is very sharp compared to a dslr. I would recommend it for studio use or for those like me who have a large selection of large dslr and lenses where you want to be less visible. For a first or only camera doing stock, I would not recommend it.

Thanks for the explanation. I use a 5DIII and set it up so that if everything has gone to plan I do no PP - simply convert to PJ. Of course I risk blowing out whites but I seem to judge it OK and check the histogram and/or shot a 1 sec clip to check it.

Could one use a loup? - even attach it with an elastic band ;-) I do that with my Hoodman as it keeps falling off the cold-shoe as I use the cinema kit. Actually I bought some knicker elastic - works great!
