Here in the US we would rather have a camcorded that full frame 1920x1080p at 24mbps/4.2.2 or better but the Panasonic doesn't fit the bill for its price point. Just look at the post specs.

The Borg are aliens from Star Trek* who assimilate technology from other species, they look like humans but with various attachments covering their whole body, rendering them virtually unrecognizable.
I was making fun of a fully rigged DSLR - all the bits you have to attach in order to make it behave like a video camera.
Kindergarden? Pre-school? - we used to call it Infants school.

No your right though, some of the third party makers of DSLR equipment have made some seriously strange looking attachments for the DSLR cameras. I still really like them though, I'm not a camera guy, I'm an animation guy but I love the look that I have seen people achieve with the DSLRs, sure they might not be as plug and play as some of the camcorder style cameras but with what Hollywood has done with them, producers here, and independent film makers I'm just so impressed with them.
It's not for some people though, everyone has a preference. These days it seems like there is 2 sides one that wants RAW, and as many K as they can get! An then the side that says, hey what ever, I want to make a movie I'm going to do it with my Iphone because that's what I have.
I feel like some of the RAW seekers have real merit to wanting that due to the type of work they are doing, but most are just like the people buying the most expensive computer at Best Buy, upgrading it to the max then just using it to surf the web...
