Any Advice for a Complete and Total Newbie???

Hi there! So, I'm a full-time professional boudoir photographer/videographer. When the studio I work for asked me to start producing promo videos and client videos a few years ago, I ended up spending HOURS online looking for songs that fit the boudoir genre (i.e. sexy without being cheesy). That's when I decided to just start composing music myself, and now I have a little library of music that I'd like to try my hand at selling online.

I thought this would be as easy as signing up for a Pond5 account, uploading my songs, and waiting to see if they sell. However, I'm finding out that there is LOT more to this stock music world, and now I'm worried about missing a step or doing things the wrong way. For instance, I have been learning about P.R.O.'s, and I feel like I should join one (looking at BMI), but I don't know if this is really necessary? And I'm not sure if signing their 2-year agreement will have any consequences considering the fact that I've been putting videos online for the past three years that feature the same songs I'd be registering with them?

Anyway, if anyone on here with lots of experience can just point me toward some good online resources or bestow some of your hard-earned knowledge, tips, lessons, or advice upon me, I'd be forever grateful. Thank you in advance! :)
