Bundling several clips together, editing them into one clip

Hi,

I have been noticing that many contributors upload sets of clips edited together (for instance, new Reuters clips from Comic-Con). From a buying perspective, I have purchased these before because you get more bang for the buck.

In the past, I have captured various views of a waterfall or object -- each one is nothing to write home about, but if I edited several together and posted them as a set I could see it having more value.

What are your thoughts on this? Have contributors had much success with this technique?

Thanks,
Graham Jones (exclusive accounts GrayJones and DrivingFootage)

You've seen that here? Never heard of anyone doing this.
I wouldn't do it, I don't see the return in bundling something. And I think you would limit who would buy the video.
Maybe if you have a series, add that to the description.

Hey GrayJones,

Here's what our Contributor Portal guidelines are when it comes to uploading sets of clips, or clips with edits:

We prefer that clips have no edits. If you have a file with several clips edited together that can be sold as individual clips, please separate them. Pond5 may determine certain sequences acceptable if they meet specific artistic or aesthetic standards.

If you have any more questions or want to check out more of the wealth of information on the Contributor Portal, I recommend taking a look! There's some great stuff there: https://contributor.pond5.com/

Thanks! There are definitely contributors who are ignoring this, and Pond5 is letting these through. Here's an example of what I'm talking about: https://www.pond5.com/stock-footage/item/201763100-after-two-year-hiatus-san-diego-comic-con-opens-dungeons-dra

Hey Grayjones,

Thanks for following up. As you probably know, Reuters is a large news organization and distributes their editorial content through Pond5 via our partnership, and clips can include edits and sound. They're not ignoring this; it's the type of content they provide.

You and other artists do have the ability to edit sequences/groups together and submit them for review (there are plenty of acceptable examples in the marketplace), but as the Contributor Portal says: "Pond5 may determine certain sequences acceptable if they meet specific artistic or aesthetic standards." In your waterfall example above, it does not sound like this will be accepted, but it's really up to the curators.

Please do reach out to support@pond5.com if you have any more questions, we're happy to help!

Thanks! Yeah, I will probably just upload single clips -- that makes it easier for the buyer to see in the thumbnail exactly what they're getting. If they want the base of a waterfall, and the thumbnail shows the top, then they might not buy my clip. Thanks all for weighing in!
