Does cheaper mean more sales?

Okay, so here's my report at the end of the month:
At the start, I got two sales, which was very encouraging. After that, though, zero sales. Once again, I'm left wondering if the price increase sabotaged my sales, or it's just the start of the year slump.
I'm also starting to consider other options as to making money with music. My present thought is that the indie video game development scene is probably the best way to go here.
As for saturation and stuff, if the market is saturated, then is it not the best way to go to increase sales than to decrease your prices even by a little bit?

Last year I had 1 sale in January and I think 2 in February. I have been steadily adding tracks since then. This year I saw a new year's slump, but it wasn't nearly as bad as last year. So it is not out of the norm to have slumps, and sometimes big ones. But as long as you keep submitting you are bound to get some steady sales.

i think i said this a lot of times but im saying it again.
i used to sell sfx at $2, then at $5, then at $10, then at $6 then at $4, now at $10 again.
in my little private experience, i found that $10 does seller better for sfx then any other of the prices i mentioned.
maybe not always, but in general im more satisfied with this price.
about music i really cant say the same.

Livingroomclassics:
the algorithm by which you are relevant when clients
search for stuff puts you in an advantage if you had
more sales than the other guy thatz also trying to sell.
How do you know how algorithm works?? Do you think that here at pond5 are so stupid to advantage sales over revenue?? They wants to make profits and profit is in $ not in number of sales..
What you said is only true for searching by sales, and many buyers usr other criteria to search...

If you cannot decide whether to lower or increase your prices, here is a safe bet: Always increase your prices!

i think a range of prices is a good idea. but one thing i have noticed is if i go above a certain threshold i barely get a view never mind a sale. i had prices up at $80 and $100, way too much it seems. my best selling track is up for $60 so that seems to be a sweet spot for me at the moment.
