Short answer is yes.
How many videos needed? Well that answer depends on what subjects you shoot and how sellable they are.
So it is a numbers thing but more importantly its a quality thing.

Certainly not at $10/clip.

RDFilm, what's wrong with you?
How can you price "Glacier Timelapses" or "Alaskan Sea View" the same like simple flowers or seagulls (which are park swans for you) :) ?
You have some fantastic clips, but i only can shake my head when i see your pricing. You'll never be possible to live with your stock income so long you don't change your mind dramatically!

I'll ditto the last few messages. It doesn't matter if you have a static shot of dog poop in park, it still needs to be priced higher than $10.

I second the last posts, you do have some really good videos and should price them accordingly and not set the same price on your entire portfolio

It is definitely possible to make a living off of stock footage (I wouldn't go as far as to say just submitting to Pond5. I think you need to submit to many different agencies but at the very least include SS). Just this year I started working nearly full time shooting stock footage (I do some photography on the side). As Jake said it is both a numbers thing and a quality thing. Price is always a hot topic here on P5 but after four years of selling footage I have decided that I won't sell an HD clip for less than $75. I started out as low as $30 but over the years I learned to value my work for what it is worth as well as experimented with pricing points and discovered that I was making far more with the higher priced clips than when I had them selling for less. Thats just my two cents. You have a good portfolio started.

You have some really nice stuff but your pricing is just insane. Yes you can make a living on Pond but definitely not at the prices that you are setting at the moment. If someone needs a glacier coming apart then they will be willing to pay an appropriate price for it - then just pass the cost along to their client. Once they have bought your clip (I'm thinking $80 not $20) then they already have it and are never coming back. By wanting to make a living off stock that means that you want to do this professionally, so time to start acting like a professional and stop under-cutting yourself. Just think of all the money that you have kissed goodbye up to this point...

All good posts. To add, learning how to tag and title is big. I'm still learning. I spent two weeks just making my Titles stronger. worth every min. My sells jumped up 50%.

Can you live off earnings made on Pond5? That really depends on how much you need to live ;)
