Split royalties

Is there a possiblity of having some sort of 'split' royalty option.Where I can own the copyright, but I agree to give half of my royalties to another user (on a particular clip.) So, for example, I use an actor in a clip, pond5 gets 50% I get 25% and the actor (who also gets a p5 user name) gets 25%....

I ask this because I have some CG projects where I have collaborated with someone, and they want to split the royalties. Also I know a lingerie model who might work for me, !!!!! provided she can share in the royalties.... I also know a ton of actors and models who I could probably smooth talk into working if this was an option. Actually I'll probably just pay them up front, because in the long run its cheaper, but still... thats not always an option.

I have been thinking a little about this too. Perhaps the easiest would be if you on the clip meta data would associate models to the clip. Data per model:

• Name
• Release agreement
• Share royalty

So you add say X which has [x] share royalty and Y who has not. When a sale is made, it will be saved in the database that X should receive 50% of this sale.

On my_financials there would be a way to generate a list of all users that should receive the royalty split.

Just to throw something up in the air, does this sound ok? I think it is easier for everyone then having them create an account each.

Best regards,

From my experience so far, models and actors usually don't like to wait for their share to accumulate $100 before they get paid. ;-)

What I'd like to see is a way to filter clips in the financial section. Something like "give me all clips with model X sold since date y" or "give me all clips shot in session z" basicly to check if said session/model has been financially rewarding.

"all clips with model x" or "...from session z" could be organised in private clip bins or tagged with invisible keywords (i.e. keywords that only the uploading user can use for searches)

Another thing I'd love to see is a system for organising model/property releases. Uploading them once an then just applying them to a clip. So, when you click on upload release you get the option to upload a new one or use one already stored on the database.

Split royalties is a great idea, although there might be some legal and tax issues that get in the way. We'll need to check in with the lawyers before setting this up.

In the meantime, you could make an arrangement with the other person to simply divvy up the clips that come out of a shoot - half for you, half for them - and then each of you have your own p5 account.

As far as releases, we're working on a fix so you won't need to upload multiple copies of the same release for clips uploaded at different times - releases will be stored so you can re-use them with other clips from the same shoot. I should point out that you can currently batch attach releases (by using the checkboxes on your Uploads page and selecting "attach release" from the dropdown at the bottom), but you need to reupload the release for clips not included in that select.

We're also going to be making some big updates to Bins, which should cover the limit-by-model or limit-by-session functionality pretty well, along with a lot of other stuff.

Thanks -- keep the suggestions coming!

That all sounds great, I guess it would be a little pointless for a model to get a pond5 username if she wasn't going to buy or sell anything.

I would love to work with my future ex-girlfriends, but I still have two more tapes I need to process before I can start recording models! ;0 .... so i'll just wait for you all to figure out the legal situation.

If anyone whines about pond 5 version 1 not being released soon enough just tell him that some masterminds (known as ironstrike and varius) keep giving you guys awesome ideas, and you have to rework the code.
;D
...

(also I wish there was an IMG command on pond5 for embeding images.)

I like the idea, this way P5 splits the royalities for us instead of us having to generate a 1099 IRS form for payment to an independent contractor .. ie model. I would assume that the model would have to submit to P5 their id for tax purposes though. P5 said they'de check with their lawyers so it looks like they've got a handle on it. Thanks, Tom.
p.s. Tom thanks for the improved sales, big boost in Jan and Feb ;).
