The value of your tracks?

I have always been asking the same question to myself. How can an artist try to value the price of a song/piece?

If we think of all the variables, one of them is definitely easy to spot: The recording quality for example. The file must be of course very well recorded, with nice 'finishing' and all.

But besides that, what sort of variables would you consider as a value-changer? What can a song bring to the table so that it's value can be changed? With Pond5, it has been the very first time I got to decide the value myself, and it felt of course quite weird for me.

I first let pond5 set the price for my tracks, then the value was quite satisfying, felt like a compliment for me. But was, of course, SO HIGH for someone with very few experience in soundtrack/stock music, except for a couple Youtube Channels... :)

What is your experience of evaluating your tracks? Discuss...

Pricing, I fully trust pond5. It's hard for me to evaluate my work.

You can always go to artist reports and take a look at the most downloaded pieces of the week and compare your work with theirs. Not that it is easy to value but maybe you can get a hint of what price to set.
Another thing I do is to compare with other marketplaces. There is at least one very big site (probably 2) with lower price than Pond5 minimum price. I consider such things too when I set my prices.
I recently tried to set a higher price on one song that started to sell quite good. Woke up one morning with 3 sales of that song. It has never happened before. I changed price from 20 to 40, sales dropped, no sales. I changed it back to 20 and I hope that it will catch up and sell again. Not easy with pricing, much to consider.

I think I should have compared my song better with other songs before I raised my price tag. Not that it is a bad song but maybe it's hard to sell for more than I first set.

I put 49 bucks on all of my tracks and it works fine (had few years of experience on P5 with 20$-ish before).
Of course there are many projects for whom 20$ difference matters, but also there are many who don't care.
I also noticed that P5 rotate tracks' exposure (search algorithms?) in different angles, so some time I have unexpected sales rush.
